Product Summary

The Mividi WMV320 provides a Multiview monitoring solution for OTT streaming services, including DRM protected services. It supports most common Internet Streaming protocols including MPEG-DASH, HLS (HTTP Live Streaming), RTMP and RTSP and can monitor DRM protected media content using Google Widevine and Microsoft PlayReady Technology.

The Mividi WMV320 is a software-based solution that can be installed on a Windows system or VM and runs like a website. Users can access the software via a web browser such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. The WMV320 allows you to play and monitor multiple video and audio services simultaneously. Streams using different streaming protocols can be monitored in the same time. It can monitor both live broadcast and VOD streaming services. It can simultaneously monitor between 20-50 streams depending on the video resolution and frame rate, as well as the CPU and GPU configuration of the client computer.

The software displays video and audio volume bars, and calculates audio loudness level. The monitoring software runs on standard Windows 10, 11 or Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022 or 2025. The software can be installed in a local computer in premise or a VM in the cloud.

Web Multiviewer Architecture Layour

Need to Monitor the Quality of OTT Streaming Service

More and more video services are now delivered using Internet OTT streaming technology. The OTT streaming has many benefits over the traditional IPTV or cable TS services. The OTT streaming can utilize the public Internet and can provide video services for different client devices including big screen TVs, computers, pads and mobile phones simultaneously using the same video source and same streaming servers. As more consumers are receiving TV services via Internet and broadcasters are serving more valuable content via streaming, and DRM (Digital Rights Management) technology is more widely deployed to protect valued content.

To guarantee the quality of video services, it is important to monitor the services. However traditional Multiview monitoring systems designed for different applications may not be adequate to monitor OTT streams, especially for DRM-protected content since it requires special decryption methods to decrypt the content and play the video and audio. The Mividi WMV320 utilizes the DRM technology in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers to decrypt the Widevine and PlayReady protected content. The software supports streams using RTP, HLS, MPEG-DASH and RTSP stream formats.

Web Multiviewer Configuration

OTT Streaming Multiviewer Using a Web Browser

To play a video stream on the Multiviewer, a user can enter a streaming URL on the Configuration panel. Video programs are displayed in the order when they are entered in the configuration panel. If a stream is DRM protected, DRM server URLs can be entered in the DRM Setting panel. Both live broadcast and VOD monitoring are supported.

The total number of streams can be monitored depending on the client computer hardware configuration. The software will automatically use hardware acceleration to decode video, and therefore a better graphic board will increase the performance of computer and support more streams. A typical computer with a 10 core CPU and an Nvidia graphic board can normally support between 20-50 streams depending on video resolution and frame rate.

Remote Server or Cloud Installation

The WMV320 is a web-based software application. The software can be installed on a remote server or in the cloud such as AWS or Azure. It runs as a website and uses Microsoft IIS (Internet Information Server) platform to host the website. The server that hosts the website requires Windows OS including Windows 10, 11 Professional or Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022, 2025. The server does not require high-end hardware specification since the actual video decoding is done on the client computer. A client computer can browse to the server using the server IP address and configure the streams. The Multiview is displayed on one or more monitors connected to the client computer.

Web Multiviewer Alarm Setting

Error Detection and Alarms

The WMV320 is able to monitor a number of error conditions in the input streams, including:

  • Loss of input streaming data;
  • Black and frozen frames;
  • Loss of audio sound or loudness level is not within user specified range.

Users can configure the application to send error alarms once errors are detected in the input video streams. Error alarms can be displayed on the multiviewer screen or sent remotely using email or text messages based on configuration. All alarms sent to users are also saved in the application database so users can search the messages to see what errors have occurred over a period of time.
